What is Fiber Optics?
Fiber optic cables are made from silica or plastic to transmit data in the form of light. This technology and its implementation are rapidly growing. Buffer tube is another layer which protects the cladding and the final layer called a jacket layer protects the stand. While transmitting data, photons pulse through the fiber cable. There are two types of fibers called Multimode fiber and single-mode fiber. For covering longer distances the Single-mode fiber is used as the smaller diameter of the glass fiber core will reduce the possibility for the decrease in signal strength. The smaller opening of the single mode fiber keeps the light as a single beam without scattering which helps to have a direct route for the light and thus it allows the signal to travel a longer distance. Single-mode fiber also has higher bandwidth than multimode fiber. The laser light source is used by single-mode fiber. These fibers are comparatively more expensive than the multimode fiber because a higher degree of accuracy is required to produce the laser light in a smaller opening which is the main principle behind the efficiency of single mode fibers.
